Capacity Building
Through its international projects, Exodos supports knowledge exchange, the development of local creative environments and connections between artists, producers and cultural organisations.
My Story connects football, filmmaking, dance and community work, enabling young people to share their experiences through creativity. Workshops were held in Bobo-Dioulasso, Burkina Faso, in 2022, and in Dakar, Senegal, and Ramallah, Palestine, in 2023. The project was supported by the UEFA Foundation for Children and selected as one of 65 projects from 1,200 applications.
Many Melo is a joint project by Exodos Ljubljana and Basque artist Ixone Ormaetxe Gabilondo that explores local textile traditions while promoting creativity, sustainable design and the empowerment of local communities, particularly women. From 10 to 21 January 2023, workshops in printing, tailoring, upcycling and traditional textile dyeing were held at Le Centre de Formation Professionnelle de Ouakam in Dakar, concluding with a fashion show presenting the participants’ creations.
In Senegal, Juan Aizpitarte’s research journey took him from Dakar to Cap Skirring and the village of Diakene Ouloff. The visit explored the local artistic scene, the relationship between culture, tourism, and community, and opportunities for future collaboration. In August 2023, together with Senegal Talent Campus, we organised a creative camp in Dakar dedicated to technical theatre practice. Participants gained practical skills in technical management, sound, lighting, and design while contributing to the creation of a dance-theatre production. Sokhna Assietou Diallo and Alassane Diedhiou were selected for further training.
In Jenin, Palestine, we organised a filmmaking workshop for young people in collaboration with the Freedom Theatre. The project was based on the belief that anyone can make a film, regardless of previous experience or knowledge. Guided by mentor Hrvoslava Brkušić, the participants gained cinematic tools to share their struggles, fears, dreams, and successes with people around the world.
In early 2021, we worked in Bobo-Dioulasso, Burkina Faso, with partners from the In and Out Festival and Tamadia. At the French Institute, Gregor Luštek led a workshop for 15 dancers, focusing on artistic exchange and the selection of participants for the international production I Had a Dream. We also organised a production workshop as part of the In and Out Festival, while the SHARE conference in Bobo-Dioulasso provided a space for exchanging experiences, connecting partners and exploring ways to improve conditions for artistic creation. The visit also included an exchange with the Bama community.
In November 2018, as part of the preparations for the SHARE project, we visited Cameroon, where we met with local partners and artists and organised a workshop for local dancers led by Gregor Luštek.
